In our school, prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, our primary educational framework predominantly revolved around the Myanmar curriculum. Specifically, the term "Myanmar Education Program" we employ refers to a matriculation class, catering to students typically around the age of 17, who are diligently preparing for the annual examination conducted by the Department of Ministry of Education in Myanmar, held every March. It's worth noting that this examination is renowned as one of the most formidable academic challenges in Myanmar, as it represents the sole gateway for students to gain admission to a university. Statistically, only around 30 percent of students across the entire country manage to successfully clear this examination each year. We have been offering the matriculation program since the academic year 2013-2014.
In the inaugural year of this program, a mere 6 out of 20 students managed to secure passing grades in the examination. Over the years, the number of students enrolling in the matriculation class has consistently risen. Presently, we take pride in the fact that approximately 100 students have triumphed over this examination. Some of these successful candidates have chosen to pursue further studies at universities within Myanmar, while others have ventured into the workforce or opted to study at international universities in Thailand. This accomplishment stands as one of the most significant success stories in our school's history.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, students at our school, including those in Grade 4 and Grade 8, were also required to undertake examinations conducted by the Department of Ministry of Education in Myanmar three times a year. Notably, we had the privilege of hosting these examinations on our school premises annually. These examinations brought together students from roughly 10 schools within the migrant community, all converging at our school to participate in these assessments.
